The T-maps of the Bundesamt für Landestopographie are characterised by their very high degree of accuracy. Contours, rock formations and glaciers are sharply delineated, so you can make a very good estimate of any special risks or the general degree of difficulty of a hike or mountain excursion. Add to that the fact that hiking and mountain paths are clearly distinguished from one another and you have the ideal map for a thorough preparation of any trip.
The 5000 series consists of composite maps on a scale of 1:50 000 and so covers a larger area than standard maps to the same scale
