The hiking maps of the IGC are very detailed. The relief shading and contour lines give them an impressive three-dimensionality, which makes it easier to estimate the degree of difficulty of a particular route. The distinctive colour coding of the various hiking routes to indicate whether these are signposted hiking routes, mountain paths, mountain paths with obstacles or glacier crossings also helps with this task. IGC maps in full-colour are ideal for the thorough preparation of any mountain excursion.
